Timely is built and maintained by Mouhamadou Falilou Kare, an independent developer. It is the only app on his App Store account, which means it gets all of the attention and none of it is split across a portfolio.
The app went on sale on 31 August 2026 and has shipped three updates since. It is not a side experiment that was published and abandoned — the release history below is public on the App Store and you can check it yourself.
What one developer means in practice
It is worth being straight about both halves of this.
The good part
- When you email support, you reach the person who wrote the code. There is no ticket queue and no first-line script.
- A bug report can become a fix in the next build rather than entering a backlog triage process.
- Nobody is being asked to grow a number this quarter, so there is no incentive to add nagging, ads, or an engagement loop.
The honest part
- Replies come from one time zone and one person, so they are not instant.
- Big features take longer than they would at a company with a team.
- If you need an enterprise contract, a signed DPA or a phone number to call, Timely is not the right fit, and it would be a waste of your time to pretend otherwise.
How Timely pays for itself
This matters more than it sounds, because it determines what the app will do to you over time. An app funded by advertising eventually needs your attention. An app funded by data eventually needs your data. Timely is funded by people paying for it.
- Free to download, with a free tier that tracks up to 5 items and includes one scan of each input type, so you can test whether the scanning actually works on your labels before paying anything.
- Timely Premium is an optional subscription that removes the item limit and unlocks unlimited AI scanning, insights and the assistant.
- No advertising. There are no ads in the app and none are planned.
- No data sold. Your items are not sold, rented or shared with data brokers, and they are not used to target advertising.
The simplest test of any app's incentives: ask who is paying, and for what. If the answer is not "the person using it", the app's interests and yours will eventually diverge.
What happens to your data
Items sync over an encrypted connection to an account that belongs to you. The app also works with no connection at all, and anything you add offline is stored on your device until it can sync.
You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, at any time, without emailing anyone to ask. That is a deliberate design decision rather than a legal minimum — an account you cannot leave is not really yours. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Release history
Public, and checkable on the App Store listing:
- 1.0 — released 31 August 2026. First public version.
- 1.0.1 — offline support, so the app opens and accepts new items without a connection; dates and voice input follow the language you choose rather than your phone's region.
- 1.0.2 — store listing and localisation work.
- 1.0.3 — in preparation. A refreshed look on iOS 26 using Apple's Liquid Glass materials, with earlier iOS versions keeping the previous design.
Getting in touch
Email mouhamadoufaliloukare@gmail.com for anything at all — a bug, a feature you want, a question about your subscription, or to tell us the scanning failed on a label it should have read. That last one is genuinely the most useful message you can send.
If something in the app is wrong, saying so is more helpful than being polite about it.
Common questions
Who is behind Timely?
Mouhamadou Falilou Kare, an independent developer. The App Store lists an individual developer rather than a company, and Timely is the only app on that account. Support emails go directly to him.
How does Timely make money?
From an optional subscription, Timely Premium. The app is free to download with a tier that tracks up to five items, and the paid plan removes the limit and unlocks unlimited AI scanning, insights and the assistant. There is no advertising in the app, and user data is not sold or used for ad targeting.
Is my data sold or used for advertising?
No. Items sync over an encrypted connection to your own account. They are not sold, rented or shared with data brokers, and they are not used to target advertising. You can delete your account and all of its contents from inside the app at any time.
What if I need enterprise support or a signed agreement?
Timely is a one-person product and is not set up for enterprise procurement, signed data processing agreements or phone support. If those are requirements for you, it is better to know that now than after you have moved your data in.
Track it before it catches you out
Timely is free on the App Store. Scan a label, a receipt or a document and it remembers the date for you.
